The observatory dome houses a fixed mount Go to Pro telescope and Celestron C9.25 optical tube, a sophisticated piece of equipment designed for use by guests who possess a knowledge of how to align and operate a telescope. For guests without experience of how to set up and align we provide at point of booking details of a local astronomer for a tour of the night sky and who you pay direct for his time.
Guided stargazing experience can be booked with our local astronomer and starts with a tour of the night sky with a laser pen pointing out the major constellations, asterisms, stars, clusters etc. with stories about legends and myths and how the stars have been used for practical purposes down the ages…
or a Night time photography course will teach the the settings needed to take great pictures of the stars: widefield shots of constellations, star trails and timelapses. At the end of the evening our guest will have a collection of photos to remember their visit by and amaze their friends with.
