Winter is undoubtedly a beautiful season, with lakes and rivers icing over and frost decorating the fields. One of the best ways to enjoy Northumberland during the colder seasons is a crisp winter walk.
Northumberland has an abundance of walking trails each more spectacular with a dusting of snow. If you’re not sure where to begin, here’s a list of the top spots to discover:
The Cheviot Hills
Tackling Northumbrian’s highest hill, the Cheviot is not for the fainthearted during the colder seasons. The peak is challenging but rewarding, if you’re hiking with amateur walkers you can take the Yeavering Bell route which is an easier ascent.
